Galleri Urbane is pleased to continue its exhibition programming with a group show titled Summer Collective. The show gathers together new work by many of the gallery’s represented artists alongside work by selected visiting artists.

Installed across the entire gallery space, Summer Collective highlights a wide range of a mediums, conceptual interests, and approaches to making artistic objects. Alongside the physical exhibition in the Dallas gallery, an online version of the show has also been created for greater accessibility.

Highlights by gallery artists include contributions by Jessica Drenk, Stephen D’Onofrio, Jason Willaford, and newcomer József Csató.

Drenk revisits her Cerebral Mapping series, a sprawling wall installation constructed from book spines and wax. Measuring at over 11 feet high, it’s the largest iteration the gallery has exhibited. The artist also introduces a new series, titled Aggregate, constructed from layered junk mail and cardboard to serve as a preview of her solo exhibition later this fall.  Stephen D’Onofrio presents the latest progression of his ongoing interest in the visual language of mass-produced design elements. His multi-panel painting Cutting Room Floor (2020) includes a barrage of patterns and symbols that allude to the pervasive imagery found in the artist’s recent work.

Jason Willaford presents the only piece in the exhibition that was not recently completed: a large-scale multi-panel piece from 2012 titled Vacant. The work is one of the first pieces Willaford created using the vinyl billboard material that he is now known for, allowing visitors to trace the progression up to the artist’s newest work on view in the adjacent gallery.
