Martin Brouillette is a Montreal-born painter based in New York City, with a studio at Mana Contemporary in Jersey City. His abstract paintings bring atmospheric color, geometric forms, and drawn marks into compositions where different kinds of order reinforce, interrupt, and destabilize one another.

Curiosity has shaped Brouillettes life since childhood: a persistent desire to understand how things work, how people think, and why things are as they are. Asking questions, researching, and looking closely remain the starting points of his work. After completing a fine arts certificate at the Universit du Qubec Montral in 2003, he developed his artistic language through independent study, travel, and sustained studio experimentation.

His early figurative paintings explored urban solitude, the aftermath of September 11, and later, identity and connection online. During his years in London, he embraced abstraction as a more expansive language for personal expression, a shift marked by Audacious Forms and Dynamic Interactions (2019). Moving to New York encouraged greater engagement with artist communities, larger scale, and more ambitious experimentation.

Brouillette has presented solo exhibitions in Montreal, Vancouver, London, and New York, including Resilience in Color (2022) and Restless and Confident Lines (2025). His work has been shown at Art Miami, London Art Fair, and Dallas Art Fair, and is held in corporate collections including Desjardins Financial Group and RBC Investor Services. His lifelong desire to understand how things work continues through painting as an investigation into how things might belong together.
