have always loved maps, and have sought out the empty spaces, the
places between roads to wander. . .a journey with an unknown destination.
I have done this for more than twenty years.
A while back there seemed so many places where I could walk alone - now there are so few. I have seen the sacred in places disappear almost as quickly as I have found them....In the vestiges of wilderness a sign of the complexity of things remains. |

Images of the Desert Southwest
were made with a large format view camera during solitary desert
walks. Mr. Berman's superbly rendered editions are limited to twelve
prints of each image. The prints have a graduated pricing of $600.00,
$850.00 and $1,200.00 with the price increasing as the number remaining
