Galleri Urbane, opened in 1999 in Silver City, New Mexico. In 2002, gallery owners Ree and Jason Willaford were drawn to the open skies and the art scene in Marfa Texas, in 2002 and 2003, They opened 2 consecutive "POP UP" weekend exhibits in an empty buildings in downtown Marfa. In 2004, the couple bought a building and relocated the gallery. The presence of the Judd and Chinati Foundations, and the fresh energy of Ballroom Marfa, the art destination town would be the new home for Galleri Urbane, the gallery expanded to Dallas in 2010.
Owner Ree Willaford a native Californian, worked in Los Angeles,C.A as a visual merchandising coordinator, marketing, acquiring and placing fine art for corporate collections.
Galleri Urbane represents emerging and established artists living in the U.S, with the primary focus on emerging artists, whose work reflects current art movements both national and internationally, In museums, public and private collections throughout the U.S and abroad. It is my objective to present "ART AS OBJECT" in painting, sculpture, photography and conceptual work. A painting that comes out of the wall as a box or a mixed media piece that is a cube in sculpture or mixed media.
